Portfolio Essay Samples - Are They Really Worth It?

Portfolio Essay Samples - Are They Really Worth It?Students tend to receive the same portfolio essays at many of the essay writing competitions. These are usually not written for essay competitions but can be used in your portfolio, especially if you plan on doing an interview for a job in the future. Before writing your portfolio, take the time to study several portfolio essay samples. Look at some examples of students who are in your high school or college class. Is it possible that you are one of these students? You may be surprised at what you find.In some cases, the students in your average portfolio are already in an interview process. These students may have an excellent resume but their portfolio will look stiff. In fact, the majority of students who are in the portfolio essay sample category have no business showing such samples to potential employers.Of course, there are many students who are born with a great work ethic and are just being rewarded for their efforts. But, I also recommend looking for other things. For example, does the student's portfolio contains essays that show his or her strength as a writer?Another thing you should consider is the student's level of writing ability. For example, does the student write well enough to make it onto the high school level? On the other hand, does the student have difficulty showing their writing skills?Students should make sure that their portfolio essay samples are written by the same person. This way, it will be easier to spot any similarities between the student's portfolio essay and the other portfolio. For example, the student may have used the same example sentences and paragraphs in both samples.Do not be discouraged if your portfolio looks similar to other portfolios. There are also students who send in samples of portfolios, so chances are there are others like you. Be patient and do not be discouraged. Finally, when writing your portfolio essay samples, keep in mind that the goal is to make th em stand out. Therefore, you do not want to copy from others, but instead try to show your own unique style of writing.
